From early days with Butlins and Pontins holiday camps Mel Harvey has been involved with family entertainments, these take the form of;-
The Traditional Punch and Judy Show
this can be seen as an entertainment for birthdays, weddings and fetes and galas plus as an educational aid for schools now that The Victorian Seaside is part of the school's curiculem.
For schools, cruise lectures and general talks Mel includes the complete history of Mr Punch and shows artefacts from his own personal collection.
The Punch and Judy show forms part of Mel's "Victorian Seaside Amusements" which can be booked for shopping centres, as a special attraction for all outdoor events and great for Victorian and Dickensian Themed events.
The Pirates Ahoy Show
This is a great show for children of all ages and allows for dressing up as pirates. Included in the show will be The Cannon Ball Run, The treasure Map, Balloon Parrots of The Carribean, making the "Skull and Crossbones" Flag by magic and a special sequence called The Pirate and the Treasure.
New for Nurserys & Playgroups
Mel has now devised a new show especially for the under fives. The Nursery Bricks and Tricks Show comes in a special Magic Box which contains lots of colourful Nursery Bricks. Inside each brick is a very funny trick suitable for all pre-school children. The show runs for about thirty five minutes and at the end all the bricks turn into a fairy castle and then there is a further surprise!!
This show can be adapted to fit various themes ie Halloween, Christmas and Easter.
THE WACKY WIZARD ONE MAN SHOW
This children's show has been devised specifically for Arts Centres, Schools and Intimate Theatres. Following on from the Harry Potter films this show includes plenty of magic and wizardry.
The Show is performed by Wizz-about the Wizard a.k.a. Mel Harvey who is himself a Member of The Inner Magic Circle with Gold Star. Apart from the award winning magic the show includes singing with the guitar, balloon modelling and plate spinning with plenty of audience participation in the Wizard Games. No stranger to Pantomime Wizz-about has also starred in Aladdin as "Wishee Washee".
The Show runs for approximately one hour without a break and is suitable for children from four upwards.
Where a sound system is not available this can be supplied with mini-disc player together with red plush stage drapes.
Igor the Owl puppet is featured in the show much to the delight of the children.
All the children who come dressed as Wizards will be able to enter "The Best Dressed Wizard Competition" and could win a Wizard prize.
A wizard painting competition is included in the Show's publicity with still more Wizard Prizes to be won.
The Wacky Wizard Show has already played The Grantham Arts Centre and The Quay Arts Centre on the Isle of Wight to full houses with over half the children coming dressed as Witches and Wizards!!
Great fun when included in a Magic, Myth and Harry Potter themed event!
Mel can also bring along a great friend of his..
Mr Hairy is an American Robot and is ideal as greeter for both the Corporate market and private functions, with weddings his speciality. Mr Hairy sways, turns and bobs his head just like a real person. His hands move up and down on the keyboard of the Yamaha while his foot taps in time with the music. This ain't no ordinary dummy!
Mr Hairy is happy to play his Yamaha organ in hotels, shopping centres and exhibitions where he always draws a big crowd. Imagine the surprise when Mr Hairy starts talking to your guests and playing the organ at the same time!
Mr Hairy is also able to deliver sales messages whilst he entertains.
In the past Mr Hairy has worked for a number of top class companies including British Airways, Marks and Spencers and Moat House International Hotels, to name but a few.
As a fundraiser Mr Hairy is second to none. His hilarious remarks and organ playing have filled many a charity bucket! Mr Hairy is also "a man for all seasons" as he will play music appropriate to the occasion and at Christmas can be seen playing in his special Santa Suit.
|For those who like background details Mr Hairy was born in Hairyville which, as everybody knows is in Hairyland U.S.A., that wonderful paradise where the grass is always greener. Leaving school at 84 with 16 hairylevels and being especially adept at soccer, he was snapped up by Hairy United. He played in his favourite position, very forward, responding always to the chorus from the terraces, "Hairy Go, Hairy go, Hairy go" He gained 589 caps with the national team until his legs finally gave out when he was still a youthful 102. Mr Hairy studied at the Hairytorium later joining the Hairy James Orchestra. After this he went solo and became a major star with his first big hit on the Hairyphone label, "Here's That Hairy Day" with the follow up success, "Hairy Days are Here Again". His first tour brought him to the U.K. where he arrived by private hairyplane. Mr Hairy's success should come as no surprise considering his pedigree. After all, his nephew, Hairyson Ford has done pretty well together with his cousin, Hairy Tyler Moore. More could of course be said of his cousin twice removed on his mother's side Hairy Belafonte and who can forget Hairy Corbett's, Sooty..|
Of course if you believe any of the above you can probably knit fog! The proof of the pudding is always in the eating. However don't try to eat MR HAIRY... just book him and enjoy some "musical robotics and interactive comedy chat"!
Not only but also Mel is a superb close up magician and has a great comedy cabaret performance.
