The Triffids
Accompanied by their Keeper these 'Carnivorous Succulents' need daily exercise.
Watch out for your sandwiches, and for goodness sake don't water them..
About The Triffids -
This act is a light-hearted send-up of the dysptoian sci-fi of 'Day of the Triffids' and 'Soylent Green'.
The Triffids are dressed in tall green costumes wrapped in vines and creepers and have large red, flower-like 'hands'.
Their Keeper talks all the time of them being organically grown but often lets slip that they are actually genetically-modified. He intentionally gets a lot of the ethics of organic farming wrong in order to send himself up and get more laughs.
The Triffids are scavengers trying to supplement their meagre 'organic' diet (this consists of potato peelings and 'Baby-Bio').
The Keeper tries to prevent them from rummaging for morsels in guests pockets and handbags, all the time trying to remain composed and telling anyone who'll listen about his organic growing technique.
Occasionally, one Triffid will give in to temptation and chase a juicy human in a very slapstick and slow style - they are, after all, educated carnivores. There is a lot of scope for playful interaction with guests.
Length of Performance
They can perform in one long set lasting up to two hours or it could be broken down into shorter sets, eg. 3 x 40 minutes or 4 x half hours, so they are flexible and could fit in with just about any schedule.
