From the street theatres of Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania in Eastern part of Africa, a group of local boys trained endlessly to refine their art and became the Afrikan Warriors!

The name Afrikan Warriors was derived from their ancestral warriors, their great-grandfathers who fought for independence, climbed to the top of Great Mt. Kilimanjaro, put the Tanzanian Flag in celebration of their freedom of independence.

Although these times have come to pass the Afrikan Warriors still carry their ancestral spirit of their freedom fighters in their choreographed Acrobatics and Traditional Dance performances in their shows.

The art of Acrobatics has become part of their lives and today the Afrikan Warriors have performed more than 2000 shows in different continents in the last 15 years, bringing the spirit of their ancestors to life.

The Afrikan Warriors was formed by Rahim Saphy on the right. He was born in 1978 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania in East Africa.

At the tender age of Seven Rahim was inspired by acrobats performing in different festivals in Dar-es-Salaam. Through this inspiration he was really determined and keen to learn the art of Acrobatics and succeed in it.

At the age of 12 he was already known as the best Acrobat in his home town. And by the age of 16 he was Dar-es-Salaam's District Acrobatic Champion.

From there he managed to form a group and they called themselves The Afrikan Warriors. They joined the YCIC (Youth Cultural and Information Centre). This led them to enter into a competition and they became winners of Mtoto wa Afrika Festival (Child of Africa Festival) and the Zanzibar International Film Festival (ZIFF Festival). They held their title as winners for three years from 1997 to 1999.

After winning the ZIFF Festival in 1999 the Afrikan Warriors got a contract to UK to perform their amazing acrobatics shows. Since coming to UK they have worked in different circuses, worked in conjunction with big entertainment companies and theme parks.
